屡破奇案的重案组高级督察方正（许志安）眼里，庆功会上纷纷邀功的其他部门同事多是平庸之辈，多起案件能侦破全靠自己和手下兄弟阿泽（雷宇扬）等人拼命，因此他的言行多少有些独断高傲。某次缉匪行动中，他等不及飞虎队自行下达命令，两名同事毙命街头，他自己也中枪昏迷，在医院一躺两年。
醒来母亲已过世、女友已成他人妻，身边世界已大不同，但方正也意外收获在他昏迷时一直悉心将他照料的女护士Oscar（李丽珍）的芳心。恢复训练持续一段时间，方正各方面已与昏迷前几乎无差，更多出可见到鬼的本领。此本领起初令他恐慌，不过生前是心理医生的阿杰（张达明）一席话让他放下心来。
回到警队后方正主动请命，接手一宗两年来无法破解的连环女护士奸杀案。两年内，已有六名女护士被奸杀，且多数死不见尸，该案能立是因其中之一自己赶到警察局向阿泽报案。方正冷静头脑，认定凶犯是一名智商极高的男性，且非常熟...
